Some of you have checked out Teacher's Apple in Ashburn and are perhaps also wishing for another Educational resource store. Some friends of ours who homeschool their children recommended to us a store in Frederick, MD area. Before you say it is too far--check out their web site.

Homeschool Connection has a catalog that is over 100 pages and the largest educational store (not just for homeschoolers) in the Mid-Atlantic areas. They also have two other stores listed on their web site. Their curriculum is from toddler-aged, preschool, kindergarten, and grades 1 through 12 levels. Great resource for educational and supplemental books (workbooks, etc.). The store has also great manipulatives for math and other subjects. They offer a discount program also. Web site info is below--

    www.homeschoolconnection.com (Homeschool Connection's site info.)

Even though our kids attend private school--we supplement their education from Homeschool Connection also. Great store. Also, if you need other homeschool curriculum or web site links--I have a list from our friends with homeschool meetings and seminars that are upcoming. Ask and I can post on this thread.

There is also a store in Leesburg: Loudoun Learning
They have a huge variety in the store and more in their catalog. You can order buy visiting the store or online: http://www.loudounlearning.com/

If you go there, ask for Michelle. She is the owner and a former teacher. She knows her stuff and is very helpfull.

    Fellow Homeschoolers--

Since we (like most parents) supplement our kids' education with activities, etc.--I have compiled a list of resources, reading resources, etc.--that you might find helpful. Not just for homeschoolers.

Here is Resource List with web sites/links that you might check out--

Huge homeschool convention yearly in Richmond, VA at the Richmond Conventon Center. Hundreds of vendors (vendors are secular and religious companies) of homeschool and other education curriculum. Open to ALL not just homeschoolers with great seminars, etc. and activities even for kids. Can purchase USED and NEW curriculum, games, and other educational products. We have been for the last 5 years.)

www.clp.org (Christian Light Publishers is a Conservative Mennonite publisher who publishes "old-fashioned" books for every age, curriculum, and other great resources. Interesting resources even for non-Mennonites. Great reads for kids who love variety of literature in books.)

www.thehomeschoolmagazine.com (The Old Schoolhouse magazine's site/info with great articles and other educational resources. Not just for homeschooler! I also subscribe to this publication.)

www.practicalhomeschooling.com (Practical Homeschooling magazine is another great educational resource with articles, etc. I subscribe to this publication also.)

Thanks for this info. Our family moved here last fall from Indiana and we homeschool our two children. I am starting to meet more and more homeschooling parents around here.I am still trying to find my way around Ashburn, but I just wanted to add that there's a store near the theater that for us has been an amazing place to get resources for teaching. I teach a lot of concepts through games and they sell a lot of great game. They also sell Professor Noggins card game series among other things like workbooks and flashcards and other learning tools. Basically, most of the major things you can find in a teacher store. When I was checking out I talked with the manager and she told me that the owner was a teacher for a long time. And she homeschools her child, too. I wish I could remember the name of the store! It's something with a monkey!:conf2: LOL!
