A friend of mine apparently had her email hacked and lucky me, I now get around 5-10 obnoxious emails per week from this jackwagon. (2 in the last hour alone, which has prompted this.)

I have a mac and my email program has an option to 'bounce' an email back to the sender, which usually works wonders for me. Apparently this is either a person who doesn't care, or maybe it's a spambot. Bouncing numerous emails had no effect and I just keep getting them and getting them.

Once I adjusted my spam filter high enough to kick these emails to spam, I found a bunch of emails that I didn't WANT in my spam box were also getting kicked. So I adjusted my filter back down and have just been living with these obnoxious things. They always have a link... no text... and I've NEVER clicked one of the links.

Is there any hope out there, or am I stuck????

    Thanks!

never send mail back. Are the from addresses different each time? If not, you should be able to blacklist that address. What mail client and provider are you using?

It's coming to my hotmail account, which I pull in through "Mail" on my mac. Mail has the "bounce" feature, which sends a message to the sender that says soemthing like, "this is an unknown address... cannot be delivered..." or something.

Maybe I'll go into hotmail via the web (rather than via Mail) and see if it has a blacklist feature. Thanks for the tip!

Definitely do not send anything back to them, it just tells them that your email account is actively monitored and gives them reason to send you more crap.

It's possible, but unlikely that the email would keep coming from the same address. Spammers know it's too easy for you to just block the address. I have set up a series of text filters based on the spam I receive so that most of the spam is blocked and it would be very unlikely that a real email would get blocked.

I found the blocker in hotmail... we'll see if it works!
