I got a notice from UPS today on my front door saying they missed me when they were by to pick up a package that I was sending to Ross Wilkinson at Washington Wealth Management. Neither my husband nor I ever heard of this man or this company and I googled them - nothing. UPS couldn't really give me much info, no phone number or contact number. We aren't sending anything anywhere. Just a mistake? My husband said he thought it was a scam but I don't see how that could be but it is odd. They had our name and correct address. Never had this happen before and in the light of the recent theft of a package it is strange. Any ideas, anyone?

If the notice that was on your door didn't have a UPS phone number, account number, etc, or if it wasn't an official UPS form, I would just toss it away. It could be some new way to sucker people into calling the supposed recipient, who will then take the 'opportunity' to try to sell you crap after 'thanking' you for calling him back to tell them about the 'mixup'. Or even gather personal information about you, etc.

If it was indeed a real UPS form, someone probably called for a pickup and UPS got the wrong address. It would still have a UPS reference number on it, so if you really wanted to, you could call UPS at 1-800-PICK-UPS. Even without a reference number, I would contact UPS and they should be able to pull up the 'pickup request' simply by giving them your address. You could then inform them of the error so they don't try to come back again. If they have no record of a scheduled pickup, then you'll know something's up.

I did get a valid UPS InfoNotice with a number. I also called the UPS 800 number and spoke with someone but they seemed to know so little about it - just a name and the company name which like I said, I couldn't find any info on. I thought they would know more about it. I guess it was just a mistake but it's never happened to me before....it all seemed a little strange.... but anyway - Merry Christmas!
