Meet Dulles Supervisor Candidate Stevens Miller

Hi All,

Sorry I don't get to post here much, but you can imagine how busy my days are, with a campaign, my business, and a five-year-old. Without Liz to share the load, I'd be in over my head.

Looking forward to meeting as many of you as I can tomorrow night, October 10, at the Nature Center (21907 Claiborne Pkwy), from 7-9pm. We have a great opportunity coming up on Election Day, November 6. The more I hear from my neighbors, the more we can make of it.

Thanks to the dozen-or-so folks who came to share ideas. I was actually pleased to know most of you from prior events, because we were able to talk about things we already agree on in more detail. I'll keep convening meetings like this, as often as I can, after I'm elected. Meanwhile, I hope everyone will continue to send me their ideas and suggestions. Your support means more than I can say.

Stevens, it was a pleasure spending the evening with you and your family. Thank you for expending the energy to run for office. You are going to make a fine Supervisor. Everytime I hear you speak I become more convinced.

To be honest several months ago, before we met, I was all about "anyone but Snow", but I can now confidently tell my neighbors, you deserve a chance to lead our district. Your intellect, demeanor, values and compassion make you the best person for the job.

I am sick and tired of competing with developers that give huge amounts of money to Mr. Snow. Government is supposed to be about the will of the people, not the will of influence.

It's time to kick Mr. Snow back into retirement. Good luck and make it a strong finish.

Thanks, afgm! It's great to hear that people know there is a candidate to vote for, not just against. (And, in all humility, let me report that I am starting to hear that more and more, as we draw towards Election Day.)

Also, thanks to Lee for the upcoming event. The tide that will reclaim the district for its residents is on the rise. People like you are a big part of it.

Political candidates actually bothering to interact with constituents on a local forum are also a big part of it.

 

Good thought, Mike. Direct meetings with my neighbors have been a big part of my efforts from the start. I got involved in local affairs when another Broadlands resident warned me and the people who live nearby about a fast-food place that might come into our section. We joined up and managed to get a bank put there instead. Ever since, I've felt that working with the residents of our community is the best way to protect it.

I wish I could make contact with everyone, but the time's not there. I've been going door-to-door for quite a while now, however, and the responses have been very encouraging and informative. I just hope I get to knock on enough of them before November 6!
