    Hi.
I just discovered we're hosting 5 very fat Black Swallowtail butterfly caterpillars. I was curious if there is a butterfly conservatory nearby that would be interested in them.

They are currently quite fat and munching away on my parsley. Unfortunately they need to to over-winter, so I can't give them refuge until spring. Would anyone have any suggestions?

It would certainly make a good biology study for kids.

    Thanks.

Hi, If you haven't already done something with the caterpillars, then I would just leave them where they are. Bugguide.net says they overwinter as pupa, as do many caterpillars. So they will probably be fine as they are already adapted to this area.
