Oracle Database Engineer with SAIC in Northern Virginia (Vienna)

SAIC is currently hiring for an Oracle Database Engineer with a Top Secret clearance. Candidate must be willing to undergo a Polygraph clearance as soon as they start.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for providing technical expertise in the analysis, design, implementation, and maintenance of an existing high-volume, data intensive system. Position requires critical thinking and problem solving abilities to address complex issues involving data movement and data replication among geographically dispersed components of the overarching system. Candidate must be able to support large enterprise initiatives and help resolve architectural issues in the environment and database infrastructure, as well as develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the database architecture and the application functionality. The candidate should possess expertise in writing complex sql statements and tuning existing sql statements for performance and scalability as well as developing and executing custom ETL (Extract, Transformation, and Load) processes and procedures used to load large volume of data (Including custom pl/sql, Oracle Datapump, and External Tables). Candidate should be familiar with developing stored procedures that process and modify existing data and creating database jobs to execute ad-hoc pl/sql as well as procedures used to validate data, modify data, or gather table and index statistics at regular intervals. Additional responsibilities include performing database patching, upgrade and migration as necessary; analyzing performance issues and providing recommendation based on testing results; proactively diagnosing and resolving problems affecting database; maintaining database configurations in compliance with release management and change management; participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
The candidate will work with a cross-section of organizations, including other DBA's, systems engineers, developers, deployers and the management team. Excellent analytical skills, time management skills, ability to prioritize and multi task, ability to routinely make effective and timely decisions in alignment with management direction is required.


REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS:
• Top Secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in related technical discipline and 9 +years experience. Advanced degree preferred.
• Must be proficient in SQL and in implementing SQLPLUS and PL/SQL
• Minimum 6+ years experience with hands-on Oracle 10g
• Minimum 3+ years experience with logical/physical data design
• Experience with Oracle backup and recovery
• Experience with Storage management, including Oracle ASM
• Experience with Unix operating system and Unix scripting
• Experience with Oracle 11g preferred
• Experience with Oracle Data Guard and Streams is desired
• Experience working with Oracle support
