Today, I went to Panera Bread and ordered Napa Almond Chicken Salad and after a few bites, I noticed that the sandwich’s contents had a different taste, texture and smell. I asked the manager why it has changed. Manager stated they don’t make it on site anymore and that it comes out of a package that is ready-made from elsewhere.

was disappointed that it no longer had the regulate taste and texture- it left me disillusioned with the chain and the fact they no longer make the usual on-site made me vow not to go back as it tasted so bland and unappetizing- $15 bucks and I expected better for that much.

    Sometimes change doesn’t work.
No real loss for me as there are other better places to get a sandwich around here.

I notice this is standard practice for franchise ops where all meals are pre-prepared at a central factory. Many restaurants are using prepared meals too because it saves on cost. I thought Panera prided themselves sourcing locally or is that just produce for salads?

Panera salads have gone downhill in the past year. Their cinnamon buns are nothing to write home about either. They cut back on the danishes as well. The flatbread pizza is just well...flat and the new chicken sandwich is not even up to beating chick fil a on a bad day.

Basically all I get there is bagels now.

jwf, Im with you on that....Their Napa Chicken Almond sandwiches awhile back were awesome and delicious.....Now, not so much. It was so bland, didn't have very much mayo/chicken/almonds,raisins/celery mixed together like a REAL chicken salad sandwich would have. IT was just bread swabbed with mayo, very little almonds, and almost NO cut grapes/raisins/celery bits....and the chicken was very dry and looked like it was cut and just placed there...none of that mixed chicken salad....

I was so disappointed and the manager said that they no longer make it onsite....they just get it in a package and slap it on the sandwich.

Told him I wouldn't be going back anymore and he didn't even ask if I could try something else after I told him I couldn't eat the bland/dry sandwich anymore as it was so unappetizing. Lost my business and I don't care if they go out of business in the future as they really don't listen to customers anymore.

Panera reminds me of the stands that sell the prepackaged sandwiches at the airport. Just another company that has lost their way.......
