My neighbors and I were SHOCKED today to see that Patriot was out and about today looking for trash to pick up. With the snow and all, VERY VERY few bothered to put out trash bins to have them picked up today.

We were very surprised because the last snow storm we had, they never came around to pick up the trash due to snow and ice. Now they came around? Why are they out today but didn't come out the last time? We were thrown for a loop on this one. How can we be informed ahead of time that they will be out to pick up trash or not because on Ridgeway Drive, barely anyone bothered to put trash out to be picked up because of the snow plows plowing snow close to the curbs.

We all thought Patriot wasted their gas and time driving around at a time when there was SO little trash to be picked up this AM around 9AM. Not sure why they came out on a snow day when they rarely, if ever, come out on a snowday to pick up trash. Just didn't make sense to my neighbors and I.

Agreed. I don’t think it would be too much to ask for improved communications on days of inclement weather. An opt-in text message notification by 6am or so on pickup days would be very helpful.

I concur . . . this weather event certainly wasn't a surprise, and despite being a holiday, the HOA should have communicated the status of trash pick-up.

I always assume trash will be picked up on the scheduled day (or they will make the attempt), unless Patriot leaves a message on their Facebook or Twitter page.

I agree with you guys that there should have been better communication-

However, it would have been futile this AM putting trash bins out early this AM since the curbs were full of snow from snowplows and many folks were still in the midst of shoveling the heavy wet snow out of the way-

Would have been nice to have a opt-in text notification so we know we would know if they are coming or not. This notification also would get people out sooner in the AM to create a small area for the trash bins at the curb because putting bins out the night before the storm is illogical because the plows will only “block them in” with snow from the road-

In the end, yeah, communication is key and I didn’t see any on the websites.

Reminds me of the old saying…..”Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.”
In my opinion, I don’t need notification if pick up will be normal. If Patriot notifies us that they will not be out, the HOA populates that info as soon as we get it.
If Patriot wants to come out in a blizzard and do their pick-ups, then good on them. I can make the determination for myself whether to clear everything up in my driveway or at my curb or just put out the trash with the next service.

Thank you for your feedback. For those inquiring about communications, have you downloaded the Broadlands app? The app was originally launched in 2017 and updated in 2021. You can enroll in push notifications to suit your preferences. A notification is pushed out and posted online when and if we are notified that services are being suspended, regardless of holiday status (as was done on January 3rd), but a notification is not sent if routine service occurs as scheduled.

If in doubt, put it out.
