Can anyone recommend an eye doctor in/near Ashburn? I need to take 2 of my children, ages 3 &5, for a follow-up from their standard vision test at the peds. I have searched on the forum but Dr. Janine Smith & Dr. Ziai do not take our VSP insurance.

    Thank you!!!!

Dr. Hinkle at Ashburn Vision Source by IHOP. They take VSP, he has a young boy of his own and was great with my kid! Since then, I've also made him my eye doctor (switching from Dr. Bermel noted by Redon above) as has my husband. We like him a lot.

Doc Hinkle-(Optometrist) gets my vote as well for routine stuff, Dr. Sam Mansour - (Opthamologist) of the Virginia Retina Center in Leesburg for more complicated issues.

We have used Dr. David Seidman in Fairfax. He was referred and has been great. He perform our son's eye surgery and is great with kids. His office is near the Fair Oaks hospital off FFX Parkway and 50.

Thank you all! We'll have to check out Dr. Hinkle and move on from there if we have anything more concerning.

My wife and I go to Dr. Hinkle for our annual visit and like him a lot ....

but when our pediatrician (Ashburn pediatrics) gave a list of recommended opthamologist, he wasn't there in the list. Not sure if he is not pediatric optometrist....

Yeah, Dr. Hinkle isn't on our list of opthamologists from our ped either. But our medical insurance plan won't cover vision care even if it's from an opthamologist..........been there and was burned. So I have to stick with our Vision insurance, which a lot of the true opthamologists don't accept but some do (like my own personal favorite Dr. Snively in Vienna who I've gone to for 15+ years, but I need a kid doctor now).

My children have seen Dr Kern for several years - we have been very happy with her. It used to be really hard to get appts, but they added another dr to the practice and now we have no problems scheduling (we haven't had appts with the newer dr). Dr Kern also has children in the same age range as mine (7-11) and she understands that kids are kids!

BTW - it has always been covered by my medical insurance (BCBS), which surprised me, but I didn't ask too many questions since it was working for me!

For children's glasses, I highly recommend Costco - they are cheap and they have replaced them free of charge every time we have broken them...

I took my quirky 6 year old to Dr. Hinkle and he was great. He's definitely good with kids!
