Does anybody know what's up with Pho Mekong (located by the Safeway in Broadlands)? I passed by yesterday and there was a CLOSED sign on the door. I tried calling today, but only got the message that they are closed today.

My daughter is craving for pho - is there any other pho place in the Ashburn area? Thanks.

Looks like there's someone opening in the same space. Anyone know what's rolling in?

will probably be filled by another bad decision... it should be a breakfast place- that's what the plaza is missing! Karate Bagels style!

A breakfast place would be great. IHOP and Coney Island Diner have gotten a little old and South Street Under (which is great) is too far for regular breakfast stops.

Because only a handful of restaurants in Ashburn actually make money. Most do 80+% of their business on Friday and Saturday nights, so they are all competing for the same dollars. There's no lunch crowd, and most people are too busy with kid stuff during the week for a sit-down restaurant meal. We've beat this topic to death on the forums. Until there are employment centers in Ashburn, you are going to see the same cookie cutter restaurants. Others will argue that a unique, independent restaurant concept that is well run will do well - and we've seen that happen with Ford's - but by and large, no one else has been able to pull it off. And by "pull it off", I mean not just survive, but actually succeed and make money.

Pho Mekong is still there, though their portion sizes have gotten smaller... thinking of trying new Pho place by Harris Teeter next time.
