Please don't tell me to slow down when you don't have a speedometer.

I contemplated writing this, but I need to vent a little here. I am the mother of 2 young children under the age of 5. My husband and I have impeccable driving records. We are always certain to obey the speed limits throughout Broadlands, and slow down considerably when there are children at play. I even remind my husband to hit the brakes, even when he's driving the speed limit, as there are several people who have complained on the forums about "speeding".

Yesterday, I was driving on Ridgeway, when I came across a couple and their young child riding their bikes on the road. I literally had to drive around them, as they were almost in the center of the roadway, and I was yelled at to "slow down" as I passed.

If this person had a speedometer, they would know that I was driving well below the speed limit. Additionally, I need not be distracted by someone yelling at me, while trying to avoid hitting them and the several parked cars along the roadway. If these folks are concerned about the safety of themselves and their children, perhaps they should not ride their bikes on the busiest roadway in Broadlands. Maybe they were on their way back home from the bike trails, but please, let's not yell at someone and blame them for something they are not doing. That's it. Thanks for reading.

i yell at people to slow down on ridgeway all the time. i live on it. BUT...i saw the couple you are talking about- and they were in the middle of the road on their bikes! we slowed down when we saw them and we all smiled and waved...but it was annoying to have to slow down to 2 mph for the people in the middle of the road...so i see your point.

What part of Bzycookn's post saying that he/she was NOT speeding did you miss? What part of both posts prior to yours indicating that the folks on bicycles were riding their bikes almost in the MIDDLE of the road did you miss?

Finally, if you need help getting your caps-lock key unstuck, drop by the next Broadlands Technology Committee meeting and one of the members will be glad to help you out...

Thank you, Mr. Linux. I don't have the energy to respond to CAPS LOCK.

    Mr. Linux-

Maybe I will attend the meeting, I guess you'll be the one wearing the propeller hat and pocket protector. Perhaps if you spent less time serving justice on these boards and more time representing the HOA we could get something done about the rampant speeding... just a thought.

Shim - with respect the HOA has little to no influence of VDOT roads or enforcement of posted speed limits.

If I could...I suggestion folks (like yourself) should contact the LCSO, traffic division and cite concerns/complaints of speeding.

You can contact the Traffic Div LCSO via 703-771-5798 (give them time.date and/or discp of car/lisence plate)

or you can fill out an on-line form...http://loudoun.vhost.vipnet.org/sheriff/complaint.htm

I am not trying to stir the pot with you as you have a valid concern, I am attempting to offer a productive means of resolution.

Mr Linux and Flynn spend hundreds of hours to keep our forums up and running...your last post seemed like a personal attack.

This is my last comment, and I'm off this site. Frankly, I do not have the time or patience to reiterate something that was very clearly stated, supported and agreed upon by others, and obviously misconstrued by a certain angry person who is not getting the point. More importantly, I and the other nice folks on this board do not deserve to be insulted. No one is saying that speeding is acceptable, ever, anywhere. GET IT?

if you let one comment chase you off the board, this may NOT be the place for you! you really have to have a thick skin and be prepared for reactions you don't like when communicating on a msg board.

it means NOTHING. anyone who read the whole thread is smart enough to ascertain that your post states that you were NOT speeding and ppl in the middle of the street were expecting others to change THEIR PROPER behavior to make room for their irresponsible behavior- in the middle of the street. a witness backed up your statement about where they were positioned.

online comms takes time to get used to, so prepare for extreme reactions to ANY and EVERY seemingly simple issue or lurk forever....

Thank you for your kind remarks, but I'm not being chased. I am very thick-skinned, however, I tend to steer clear of folks who are angry and insulting. That's a waste of time and energy for me. If I want a debate, I would rather argue over some of the crucial and legitimate elements of life, rather than argue with a stranger over complete nonsense. I think the people who SHOULD stay off this site, are the folks who are insulting and mean-spirited, not the ones who are "thin-skinned", or otherwise. Thanks again. I’m using the rest of my energy to tuck my beautiful kids into bed. Have a nice evening, everyone.

    you'll be baaaaack... lol

some of the ppl who LIVE for these boards are those who have trouble communicating successfully in person- why do you think they love the anonimity and impersonal aspect of e-comms!

enjoy your evening, come back and ignore ppl here like you would in real life. :)

Bzy - shim is nothing more than an occasional poster who mostly likes to fan the flames.
And I bet he has not once done anything about people speeding other than beeotch here. ;)

I suggest you treat shim like most of us and ignore him.
