Hi. For those car-savvy people in the forum, I have a question.
I took my almost 10-yr old Sonata to my regular car service place for a change oil (& to check squeak in wipers, plus check on the coupler they replaced in 2018). Wipers were changed & the coupler is out of their warranty period.

When I got home & parked, there was no sound when I closed the doors thru my fob. I took it back & they checked - they changed the fob battery; made sure doors/hood are closed, disconnected the battery, but nothing worked. Verdict was the door latch is starting not to work properly & replacing it is the first step to take. They estimated $500+ for the door latch.

Question - is it a reasonable coincidence that it happened after the oil change?
    What are my options?
Thanks for your help in advance.

I doubt that that this is connected to oil changes- since you say the car is 10 yrs old- things do break or wear out due to age- my own Santa Fe’s is 11 yrs old and my passenger door’s door actuator is shot so I need to get it replaced.

You can’t expect a car to be indestructible and last forever withOUT any repairs-

what is the shop you took you took your car to??

Hi. I forgot to add - the doors lock, it just doesn't make the sound when it locks. Also, when they tested, the passenger window was open (not sure if it matters).

*Capricorn1964 - Thanks for your reply. I googled & door actuators seem to be around $100. Is door latch a different thing?
