Has anyone tried using powerline adapters to enhance internet reach in rooms located far away from the router? I have an eero mesh but still have speed and connectivity issues in 2 rooms. I have FIOS 1 gig as ISP. Thanks

are your eero mesh's plugged in with an ethernet cord and is that cord going back to your router or switch? or are you using the main base, and trying to extend the wireless signal, wirelessly (hopefully this makes sense).

in order to get the max amount of bandwidth, you should have your eeros plugged in to the router or switch with a physical cord. i do not think powerline adapters work that well.

where are you eeros placed? drywall, cement, pipes, etc degrade wifi performance, especially if you are trying to throw wireless from one adaptor to another. 2.4 ghz and 5ghz both have different uses. 5g is faster, but it does not travel as far and does not go though physical barriers efficiently. 2.4 is a little slower but it extends farther and has an easier time passing through physical things.

hope this helps. feel free to ask any questions you may have.

    Mike,

Thanks for your reply. I'm using the main base and trying to extend the signal wirelessly to different rooms in the house. The base is in the FR on the 1st floor while I have eeros in the basement, top floor and the 1st floor. I'm not sure how I could easily hardwire the eeros without trying to fish the ethernet through various walls to reach the desired location. Any suggestions or pointers would be appreciated on trying to achieve that would be appreciated.

We use powerline ethernet adapters in our house, 2 of them. Our house must have a heck of a lot of metal in the walls as the wifi signal degrades badly between levels. One goes to a Tivo/TV on the 3rd floor, another to a Tivo/TV on the main level. They work great, but every now and then they have to be reset. When I first put them in I did do a speedtest with a laptop, it was like having a direct ethernet connection. We also have FIOS.

    hello bob.

first off, do you have any cat 5e already in your wall? are any of the rooms wired with 1 ethernet drop that goes back to your network/demarc/router?

hardwired is always better than wireless. and the signal degrades as you try to go wireless to wireless.
