We're not getting out for runs with the cold and the dark, just not feeling it this year (another year older and we're turning into wimps!)

Looking for a decent treadmill for 3-8 mile runs, 2-3x a week, for 2 runners. Willing to spend the $ to get the right unit but don't want to overspend either. If you have a treadmill you are happy with, I'd love to hear about it!

    thanks.

    ^^ Ditto
Wahoogeek - if you get any private messages about a particular unit if you could post that would be great. I have been floating around the internet looking for reccomedations,etc... just havent decided to commit yet. Im trying to keep mine in the mid-range price point $1-1.5K

My wife is an avid runner (~5 miles every morning.) She wanted a gym-quality treadmill last year and chose the Sole F80 which was $1500 everywhere we looked. It seems very well made and she's had no problems with using it. The only problem I have with it is the size and weight. The tread part folds up (not completely vertically) and it's still huge. The unit weighs about 250lbs, so moving it is a major operation. You have to have a designated spot for it - don't plan on dragging it in and out of a corner each time you want to use it.

Thanks John. I (and Beahmer) appreciate the response. We're not looking for something we can move out of the way -- although I guess I should check the dimensions for where we want to put it!

Beahmer -- definitely will do. I'd be interested to hear what your research is turning up. My price point is the same.

One that seems to float around the $1K mark is the Nordictrac C900 (Ive seen it as low as $899 at Sears) - it has gotten good reviews for an entry/mid level treadmill if you google search traedmill reviews. Although I see a lot of people bad mouth Nirdictract for service issues. Thats what has me thinking a little harder.

Another brand that I just heard of is Life Span Fitness - from some of the forums Ive read seems like they get a better rap than Nordictrac or Sole.

We have a Life Span Fitness treadmill and it is very nice. We bought it at Leisure Fitness in Tysons and they were great about stearing us to an appropriate model (we were looking at something more expensive than we needed) and working with us on the cost to help out with delivery/set up charges (for example, asked us if we had any old gym equipment we wanted to "trade in").

Thanks bailey. What model do you have? Any dislikes, issues, things you wished you knew before purchasing? Life Span seems to get many positive reviews.

wahoogeek, it is the TR4000i. So far no dislikes, but I've only had it for a few months - I don't really use the programs, but it has a bunch, a good incline range, and a heartrate monitor. I mostly just get on it and press start!

I have a NordiTrack we bought for around $1,500 7 years ago...the thing still runs and is in good shape (just dated).

It is sitting in my basement and gets no use (we finished the room it sat in previously and has been sitting in the storage section for almost 3 years)

When we used it....my wife and I ran on it 3 days a week usually for about 45 minutes each

If somebody is interested in buying it let me know
