    Hi all,

Since our momma passed away in 2003 from ALS, we three sisters planned to always get together at least once a year. Well with one in Charlotte and one in CA, that might only be a holiday, and it is sort of too much (I think) that the CA sister has to come out each year for turkey or Xmas.

Anyway, our Charlotte sister has a 3 and 4 year old (one of each sex) and they are both type "A" - just like the parents. Needless to say, my sister is STRESSED OUT. but she cannot see the light that she needs to get out of town and leave her daily responsibilities behind her. Her husband called me today and is desperate for her to go. He will handle the details on his side (God bless him - that is rare indeed!) and we want to show up and "kidnap" her on her birthday, which is April 9th.

We'd like to pamper her, shop, eat, drink copious amounts of wine, stay at a luxury Inn and have fun. for 5 days!

Anyone done this kind of thing, or have any suggestions? I'm convinced we don't have to go outside the US and my CA sister has traveled a lot - 2nd marriage, so she takes HER son to Machu Picchu last year when he was 11 and just got back from a week in Belize with him. Lucky her 2nd husband is a totally laid back CA guy (actually his parents were 1st generation Japanese here and interned in the camps when they were 9!) Never seen an over 6 foot buff Japanese guy with wavy black hair...with the surfer voice!!!) what a hoot!

And KAOS I love you! Remember that! Just had to describe Randy for the Forum audience to see how random it is:)

As I said before, any good ideas will be nice to hear. We are not interested in flirting. just doing the girl thing.

I need Brassey to get away for her self too. For a long time. The last time she went away I built a home theater.

I'm thinking a HO scale train set this time.......

    In the dining room.

    The Homestead, Hot Springs, VA

    Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, Farmington, PA

(those two are kind of in the middle of nowhere, so I don't know about the shopping but they have lots of outdoor activities)

The Grove Park Inn & Resort, Ashville, NC

I haven't actually been to any of these, but they're on my radar for someday when my husband and I can sneak off without the kids.

Me and my wife stayed at the Grove Park Inn last year.

Its very nice and has a lot of character. Lots of stone and everything is oversized - you can stand in the fireplace in the main lobby.

The Biltmore Estate is really nice too. Lots of restaurants and other things to do in Asheville.

I used to live in Scottsdale, and while the Boulders is nice, it's WAY far away from everything else. Might I suggest, if you're considering AZ, this place: http://www.hermosainn.com/ It's very quaint, locals go there for lunch on their beautiful patio area, and it's just Arizona at it's finest.
