As was shared with the Community last night at the Annual Meeting of the Association, Verizon has made available the "add-on" services available to Southern Walk Residences.

Please note that Service Delivery dates have not been shared yet with the Southern Walk HOA, but the first group of homes is expected to be serviced in the first quarter of 2019. More details will be posted as they become available. Residents who elect these services will be billed by Verizon directly.

Details regarding how to contact Verizon to install services will be announced in a follow-up communication-- please do not order through Verizon directly as you will be referred to the Southern Walk HOA--as this is a special community package.

The contracted portion, the Broadband internet, will be billed as part of the monthly HOA dues for the Southern Walk. More details will be shared with the residents as they become final. No details are available yet as to when monthly dues will be changed for residents.

Rates and services could change in Calendar year 2019.

    According to the Fios website:

Fios 2-Year Price Guarantee of $79.99/month for new subscribers plus
$200 toward a range of Google or Nest smart home devices
$100 Verizon Visa® Prepaid Card included
Standard setup charge is waived ($99 value)
Stuck in a contract? Get up to $500 credit to help cover your early termination fee

    For the following services:
    Custom TV
    Up to 940/880 Mbps
    Verizon Home Phone

Fios 2-Year Price Guarantee of $143.98.99/month for new Southern Walk subscribers plus
    Standard setup charge ($99)

    For the following services:
    Custom TV (Southern Walk: $44.99)
Up to 940/880 Mbps (Southern Walk estimated: $69) + estimated 25 HOA fee
Verizon Home Phone (Southern Walk: $29.99)

Verizon can’t do better for Southern Walk in a special community package?

Should we get the entire package for $143.98 or do we have the option to select only 940/880 Mbps internet for $69, as I may not need other services (like custom TV, or Home Phone). Also is there an option to continue with Open Band if they continue in this area?

You will be paying for the FiOS broadband portion through your SWHOA dues, however the Board stated there is not a specific timetable yet for when that will occur, or the exact amount you will pay. Expect that to be somewhere between $80 and $90 as the amount you will pay per month for your SWHOA dues and sometime in 2019.

You do not have to choose FiOS TV or Verizon home phone. These are options and if you choose them, Verizon will bill you directly.

You can continue to use OpenBand's services; however, continuing to use their broadband will not relieve you of your duty to pay your SWHOA dues which will include the FiOS broadband.

As far as price is concerned, the rate we are getting is at par or higher than what we would have got if we had directly negotiated with Verizon for a two year contract. And I have also directly contacted Verizon customer care and was told that they service in our area, but currently have special agreement with SWHOA.

I'm still perplexed why Verizon skipped our street in North Broadlands.

Goks, I think you are reading that data wrong... the data posted is for SWHOA packages... not the general public.

KTdid - was that a joke? Hard to tell, but Broadlands north is not part of the Southern Walk neighborhood, you know that right?

I should have edited after cutting and pasting.

According to the SW Pricing Sheet attached to this thread:
Fios for $143.98.99/month for new Southern Walk subscribers plus

The pricing sheet for SW does not provide a two year guarantee. According to the price sheet, pricing is subject to change. Therefore, prices can go up each year similar to OpenBand did.

SW new subscribers pay $64 or more a month more than other Fios new subscribers, plus a $99 setup charge. We also don't get the incentives that Fios offers, because with limited competition, they don't need to offer incentives. So we get the Fios service, but at a premium. Two steps forward, one step back.

Curious where you see a set-up charge on the pricing sheet?

You are right, it does say Standard Initial Set-Up Charge Waiver is included in the Internet contract. That should apply for phone and video if you purchase those at the time of the internet set-up.

Why do we have to go through the SWHOA to get Verizon?

What street do you live on? Do you want FiOS? Does anyone else on your street want FiOS? You may be able to submit a Request for Service through the Loudoun County Communications Commission. Are there any other streets in Broadlands that don't have FiOS that want it?

Harvest Green and yes, based on conversations with neighbors, we want FIOS. The same thing happened years ago when DSL was all the rage.

Depends on how far you want to push the issue. The Loudoun County Communications Commission has a Request For Service form and it's not totally clear whether this block of townhomes would all be willing to commit to purchasing service, what types of access issues there are (does Verizon have an easement- I suspect they do for Broadlands North), and would a contract be required (similar to SW terms and years). You might need to attend one of the Loudoun County meetings or contact the representative for this area for more clarification.

Maybe it's verizon's service path is along vestals gap... and not the east side of claiborne as it would be needed to reach Harvest Green. Tho I know some of their big junctions where there at at vestals/clairborne

But I know both streets behind there (serviced from Vestals Gap/Demott Side) have FIOS.

Ashburn had been dubbed "Center of the Internet" years ago and we have to beg to get quality, reasonably priced high-speed Internet to houses in Broadlands. Pretty pathetic.

The tech committee's original scope was to try to get high speed internet into the community... as adelphia wasn't offering cable modem in the area :) @hornerjo was even testing directional radio and long distance wifi :)
