Definitely one of those places that specialize in kids - the kind with the chairs that are cars or something. It's a little pricier than your normal haircut but the distractions help the whole process go little more smoothly. I think there's one on the Dulles Town Center near the Sears. Good luck!

Eclips Kids where where we take our two. They're pretty good. They have locations in Ashburn Village and in Brambleton.

We took our daughter to that particular place by Sears when she was very young and regretted it. Worst. Haircut. Ever. Had to go get a 2nd haircut to fix the first one.

I am oddly VERY nervous about this entire experience. My son is a super mellow kid so its not him I'm worried about. Its me. ahhhh.

It will be okay! And you know what? It's only hair. My boys have had their fair share of bad cuts and they're only 3 - it will grow back if there's a problem. Promise!

Word to the wise, though - if you're planning on letting them use the clippers, and if you have a set at home, you may want to show it to him so he hears the buzzing and stuff before he's in a strange place with them putting it next to his head. Good luck!

I have actually had a great experience with cutting his hair at home myself. With boys hair, it is not too hard with clippers. I knew nothing when I started and did not find it hard to give him a decent haircut.

Agree! We went there too. I told them it was her first haircut and the stylist practically attacked her with the water bottle to get her hair wet, she was not a happy camper and the haircut was less than great. It felt very rushed and unpleasant all around. We never went back. I started taking my kids to Eclips as well. Their Ashburn Village location relocated to Brambletown town center, right next to Harris Teeter. They have a separate entrance for the kids area, right next to the adult salon section of Eclips.

+ 1 on Eclipse Kids, but we have also used the barber shop in Ashburn Village (shopping center with the Giant & Ashburn Wine shop).

I would agree with Dave's post, as of late I have started using clippers at home to keep my son's Mo-Hawk in top form.
