Are you happy with the coverage you receive in Broadlands? I'm SOOOO tired of Verizon and am ready for a change!

i thought i heard on "the street" that verizon was putting up a tower somewhere in broadlands---cuz i'm tired of the sucky reception i've had since i moved here---but i keep holding out hope.

when i looked at switching---i couldn't find another carrier that could really offer anything better. if it's better coverage in broadlands...it means they sucked somewhere else. not to mention all my "in-calling" minutes per month would now be 'out of network', which would mean i'd need a 2,000 minute plan, which is out of the question.

My understanding is that Verizon is adding antennas to the tower at Exit 6 of the Greenway - I don't know if it's a full-out addition or just a replacement of an older/shorter antenna pod. Regardless, if/when it finally happens, it would likely help at least in the SW area. Unfortunately, I don't know any specifics.

St. David's Episcopal Church has plans for a cell tower on their property. The church is located on Russell Branch Parkway near Belmont Country Club.

We're with Sprint, and in Overland Park signal strength always seems quite good.

AT&T for both my work and personal phones. Coverage in the region is spectacular.

Sprint. Coverage is always decent for me. In some cases signal is bad, but roaming is included on most basic plans. If you use data and texting a lot PM me. I can hook you up with an referral plan.

Do you realize that Virgin runs on Sprint CDMA network? Something might be wrong with your Sprint phone.

I have AT&T and no complaints. I get reception everywhere I need it. I don't get reception on the metro, but that doesn't mean much to me. The people I know that have verizon like the fact that they have reception on the metro, but they always complain about the metro coverage not being great.

I use Sprint and have absolutely perfect service with them in this whole area and my home.. I heard with sprint although I don't know if other carriers you can take your phone into one of their service centers to update the phone for possible better coverage at times. Perhaps one of you high tech pro's here could shed some light on this. :)

AT&T. Has been great ever since I got a quad-band phone. Had some pockets of troublewith a tri-band that I had 2 years ago, especially when I drove near/on Belmont Ridge.

I probably don't use my phone as much as the average person, but I have Verizon and have been happy with their service for almost 5 years.

For what it's worth, here are the Consumer Reports ratings. None are particularly impressive:

    WASHINGTON, DC

No service / Circuits Full / Dropped Calls / Static

Verizon [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] Reader Score: 70
T-Mobile [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] 65
Sprint PCS [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] 63
