Has anyone used Wiger Ortho in Southern Walk? I need to take my daughter for a consultation. I have heard that some of the other Ortho offices in the area are assembly lines. I have not seen much on Dr Wiger. Thanks for the advice.

Here are my two cents. Everyone will have their own preferences, but of the three that we have tried and used over the years I would rank Wiger in third place. The others would be Apt in second place and Daczkowski (aka "Dr. D") in first. This is solely based upon our experience which will be different than other people, but of all the practices his was an "assembly line". All practices will all have many patients getting treated at the same time which tends to create the assembly line feel. I know its not great going to two or three consultations and the time involved but I would visit at least three and talk to them about their approach. Do they aggressively treat the correction that is needed or are they willing to have you check in every couple of months and see how the mouth is progressing as the child matures? Will extraction be needed? Do they recycle braces, brackets or wires? (some do). Just visit and see who you and your daughter are comfortable with, the office environment and staff. The Dr. will be doing less of the work than you actually think. If you want to can PM me and I can provide further information.

We LOVE Dr.Zack Cassagrande in Brambleton. Every single one of his team are exceptional, he always remembers things about the kids, makes them feel great, he has lots of great incentives for them, and several financing options if need be. Not to mention he is a wonderful and active member of the community.

Are the recommendations based on interactions with kids? Do all these doctors also work with adults (invisalign for example). Thinking of going in for some work myself (I'm 36) and if there are good local Doctors then I'll support them.

    Thanks

    Mike

I'll third or fourth Dr. Casagrande. He's a great doc with a wonderful staff and, yes, he sees adults as well.

I would highly recommend Dr. Wiger! We've had nothing but positive experiences with him and his staff! We we're thrilled when he opened an office right here in Broadlands (we had been going to his Cascades office). I would definitely schedule a consultation there as well!

I second the recommendation for Dr. Wiger! I am relatively new to Broadlands and visited three other orthodontists in the area because I did not know where to take my daughter who needed braces. (My sons were treated in Florida, where we moved from.) ALL of the offices were similar as far as how the patient chairs were set up but I have to disagree totally with assembly line feel. Neither my daughter or I have ever felt this. In fact, it's the total opposite. I have never met a more compasionate doctor and staff and we actually look forward to her appointments. We have told everyone about him and most of my daughters friends go there too. Out of all the orthodontists in the area, in my opinion, Wiger Orthodontics is the best!!

We highly recommend Dr. Wiger. We chose Dr. Wiger because of his skills and many years of experience as an orthodontist but also because he is a man of great integrity both in his business and in the community. We have been very pleased with Dr. Wiger and his entire staff.

And if it matters to you like it matters to me...my son is always seen on time!

how about the least expensive for invisalign? kaosdad has always had great teeth. suddenly in the last 6 months, he's gotten a gap right in front and the eye teeth are turning and crowding the front. Our son is getting married in November and with losing weight and all that, he'll want a nice smile to go with it. Thing is, we can't spend a ton, since he was out of work for 11 months and we're in our 3rd month of running our own biz...

We take our kids to Ashburn Pediatrics - Dr Patel - for dental and he has an in-house orthodontist, Dr. Joe. So far, I am really happy with him. On a side note - if you're looking for a pediatric dentist, Dr. Patel is great.

ALl Orthos do adult work now. It's a busy practice. As we age, if our teeth aren't straight, bite surfaces can be off, and you can blow off the side of a tooth eating something and then you have a crown. I had them done for the second time( 1st as a early teen for four years-didn't wear my retainer every night after the first year of 24x7) when my son was 15 and also in braces. I had ceramics. Now I have an ivlislign retainer for the uppers as well as a permanent retainer (wire behind the main front teeth) and a normal bottom retainer. I wear them mostly every night. You go a few days and its pretty uncomforable putting them back in.

I chose ceramics as I didn't want to pay the cost of the invisalign, though it supposedly would have been cheaper. Invisalign, really isn't totally see-through, like the advert tends to make you think. With the ceramics, people couldn't even tell most of the time that I had them on.

We go to Dr Wiger and are very happy there. They are kind and my son's teeth are right on track with when they said they would come off. May even be a month early.
My son likes him as well. I think all ortho's have a bit of an assembly line but it's the nature of the business... :)
    Good luck.
