Winter Classic (Outdoor hockey game)

Anyone check out the winter classic? Real exciting in my mind. I'd like to see a couple of these a year. Wouldn't it be funny if the NHL had the Panthers and Coyotes play one next year?

 

I thought it was pretty cool!

There has been talk of possibly staging a Flyers vs. Pens game in 110,000 seat Beaver Stadium at Penn State. Road trip anyone?

Way, way cool and highlights the heritage of the game...kids out playing on a pond...was even better with some snow falling. I wish the NHL would do more novel things like this to get some positive attention.

 

It was cool, but I bet sitting so far away in the stadium sucked! It was neat having it snow and seeing how much it slowed the puck down.... they should do more of them!

 

Game was great. It was fitting that it came down to a shootout. Wish the Sabres had been able to win though. I love the fact that they wanted to get hockey to it's roots, even if it was just this one game.

 

They (critics) keep saying how bad the all-star game is, they really should think of staging it outdoors! That would draw a lot of attention. I loved it!

 

I'm from Buffalo and was up there for the holidays......several of our family members went to the game and yes - it was hard to see sitting so far away! But I think all hockey games should be played out in the elements!!
