Wireless Update 9-06-02

CWC and Community Wireless Structures, after a few setbacks with mounting hardware, have gotten the antennas on the towers and the APs working. As of yesterday, they are beginning their next phase of testing, which is going out and checking signal levels and adjusting the angles on the antennas at the tower. This process is expected to last a few days. It's a little more complex than one might think. Just a few degrees off on the tower antennas can overshoot half the Broadlands for signal.

On the bandwidth front, Verizon has still not gotten the local loop installed. Unfortunately CWC can only wait and constantly bug them.

Setting the angle I know can be a pain. Kind of like setting up my satellite dish I would suspect. But along the lines of the local loop. How quickly would one think that Verizon, our phone, dsl, and data supplier really wants to get this in. I suspect they're not in a hurry. I work for Sprint and we have very large contracts w/the LECS and to install a local loop even takes us several months to get installed. I know their pain, I guess we have to be patient.....the monopolistic bells strike again...

One other thing unrelated....how come I have gray stars and others have gold or green....are my posts really that bad....? <img src=icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle>
