PETiquette – Pick Up After Your Pet

Pet waste left on trails, sidewalks, streets, and grassy areas is carried by stormwater runoff into storm drains and into the watershed. Broadlands’ trails are dotted with Mutt Mitt stations with supplies to properly dispose of pet waste. The stations and disposal bags are provided by the HOA. Please remember to pick up after your pet. For more information about the impact of pet waste on the watershed, check out Loudoun County’s brochure, Scoop the Poop: Be the Solution to Stormwater Pollution.

Greenway Toll Investigation

(Per Delegate Ramadan’s Office)  “On November 14th, 2012, Toll Road Investors Partnership II, L.P. (TRIP II), owners of the Dulles Greenway, requested permission to institute an increase in the tolls along the Greenway. Delegate Ramadan filed an official complaint with the State Corporation Commission (SCC) on December 7th, 2012, requesting that the increase be denied and that the toll rates on the Dulles Greenway be investigated to ensure compliance with the Code of Virginia.”

“On January 16th, in spite of the request and arguments presented by Delegate Ramadan, the SCC issued an order allowing TRIP II to increase the toll rates. In response, Delegate Ramadan submitted a new request that the toll structure be investigated. January 30th, in response to Delegate Ramadan’s request, the SCC issued an order initiating an investigation into the current rate structure and rate levels charged by TRIP II.”

The SCC has set several hearing dates for public comments:

  • April 9 in Purcellville at the Loudoun Valley High School (340 North Maple Avenue) at 4pm and 7pm.
  • June 6 in Sterling at the Park View High School (400 W. Laurel Avenue) at 4pm and 7pm.
  • July 18 in Richmond at the SCC (1300 East Main Street) at 10am.

Delegate Ramadan is requesting your help: Sign the petition at www.LowerGreenwayTolls.com and consider attending the June 6th public hearing to voice your concerns.
