Snow Removal Guidelines on Streets in Broadlands

SNOW REMOVAL GUIDELINES IN BROADLANDS

WITH THIS WEEKEND’S FORECAST CALLING FOR SO MUCH SNOW, PLEASE MAKE A POINT snowTO FOLLOW THESE TIPS:

Before:

  • Move cars from street parking to garage/driveway to allow plows plenty of room
  • Bring in your Thursday trash and recycle bins, so they aren’t in the way – or buried.

During/After

  • It’s a big storm – give the crews time to reach your street.
  • Be sure to contact the appropriate plowing company – see Snow Removal Guidelines
  • When clearing your driveway, pile snow to the sides, so the plow won’t push it back into your driveway.
  • Clear sidewalks in front of your house as soon as possible (it’s the law).
  • Be mindful of your neighbors, please pile snow where it won’t be a nuisance.

The Broadlands Association is not responsible for removing snow or treating state or county maintained (VDOT) roadways. The Association is only responsible for clearing snow from paved parking areas in townhome neighborhoods and HOA maintained roads in the community. Snow removal will be performed when an accumulation of 2 inches or more has fallen on the ground. Please click the following list to find out if VDOT or the HOA maintains your street, which numbers to call with questions, and guidelines on snow removal: SNOW REMOVAL LIST AND GUIDELINES

Bushcraft in January finalFlyer version: Bushcraft in January – PDF

This Saturday, January 16, 2016

Full Day Pass $50/person or Per Track Price $30/person

Spaces are limited to 12 participants.

Jason and Sera Drevenak, homesteaders and special forces trainers for wilderness survival, are coming to Broadlands Nature Center in January, February, and March.

This is a rare opportunity to learn from two experts in the field. They typically only share their wisdom at large earthskills gatherings or at their own location as there is so many traditional tools that they must bring. But in a unique merger with Broadlands they have consented to come to our community to teach ancient crafts in re-wilding. January 16th they will teach natural cordage and basketry, soap making (by creating your own lye) with bear fat and goat milk, and buckskin working along with knife care and spoon making. (only 12 slots available)

Classes are meant for mature older children and adults since real tools will be used to make certain products. These are NOT demonstration classes. You will learn 100% of the process and make with your own two hands. Parent and child may come together with only one entrance fee, but will leave with only one single bundle of product that they work on together.

Full Day Pass (combine classes as you like) – 8:30 am – 6:00 pm – $50
Track 1 – Basketry & Cordage – 8:30 am – 1:00 pm – $30

Monthly Assessments Will Increase In 2016

The Board of Directors has approved a minimal increase in the general monthly assessments in 2016. Prior to the January 2016 payment, please be certain to update your payment system to reflect the following amounts in order to avoid late fees:

  • Single Family Homes on VDOT streets –  $75.00 per month
  • Town Homes –  $89.00 per month
  • Single Family Homes on Private Street –  $94.00 per month
  • Villa Homes –  $104.00 per month
  • Courtyard Homes –  $132.00 per month

Assessment coupons will be mailed to all owners at the address on file with FirstService Residential. If you have not received your coupons by December 15, 2015, please contact FirstService Residential at 703-679-1541 or broadlands.dcmetro@fsresidential.com . If you participate in the Direct Debit Program through FirstService Residential, you will not receive a coupon booklet and the 2016 assessments will be automatically deducted from your account.

Direct Debit Program: Owners are encouraged to sign up for the Direct Debit Program through FirstService Residential. Your monthly assessment will be automatically deducted from your bank account during the first week of every month. This eliminates the possibility of a payment being missed or lost in the mail and the Association charging a late fee to your account as a result. The Automated Payment Service Authorization Form is available at this link: https://www.broadlandshoa.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/FSR-AR-Automatic-Debit-Form.pdf.

PayLease: FirstService Residential also accepts major credit cards and e-checks for assessment payments. Through PayLease, you can make a one-time e-payment or schedule recurring e-payments by visiting https://fsresidential.com/virginia/home.

If you have questions regarding the assessment levels, you may contact the General Manager, Sarah Gerstein at sarah@broadlandshoa.com or 703-729-9704.
