Wind Damage in Broadlands

UPDATE 3.9.18….
The Association would like to thank everyone who has reported fallen trees/limbs and signs in the common areas since the onset of the storm. The Association has assessed each individual situation and the staff and contractors are dealing with these issues in order of priority, where the most dangerous/severe situations are taken care of first.

On properties where there is damage to a home or other structure from a common area tree, the Association is asking those property owners to contact their homeowners insurance provider and/or their own tree service to remove the tree from the home or structure. The Association will not remove trees that have fallen onto your home, deck, shed, etc. Virginia state law considers these incidents “acts of god”, and the tree or fallen debris becomes the property of the person whose property it fell onto, at the property line. The Association will do its best to remove common area trees from fences with permission from the property owner.

We appreciate your continued patience as the staff and contractors work to resolve all of the storm issues in the community!

HIGH WIND WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM SATURDAY…

WINDS… 25 to 40 mph with gusts around 60 to 70 mph. The strongest winds will be on 3/2, Friday morning through Friday evening.

Property damage may occur. Please secure all outdoor items and bring in trash and recycling containers by Thursday evening. Damaging winds may blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
